Their Challenge:
Wynyard Estates required a comprehensive utility solution for the prestigious Wynyard West development, accommodating future phases by Cameron Hall Developments, Bellway, and Banks Group. The challenge included phasing out gas, increasing electric usage for hot air pumps and PV panels, and ensuring future-proof infrastructure and technology needs. Additionally, bespoke street lighting and utilities for commercial and industrial phases were necessary.
Our Solution
The Team developed a multi-utility strategy early on for Wynyard Estates, adopting a New Asset Value (NAV) approach through an Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) for both foul and clean water networks. This provided design flexibility, use of modern materials, and cost efficiency.
In coordination with Applebridge Construction, a streamlined construction programme was developed. An interim electric solution was provided to maintain the construction schedule before the substations went live. Bespoke street lighting was designed for adoptable and un-adoptable areas, ducting network were installed for CCTV, and utilities were provided for commercial and industrial units, including car charging points.
Scope Of Works
- Applebridge Utilities was appointed to conduct the following packages of works:
- Water and Electric Mains & Service Connections for 76 Plots
- Gas supply for 6 Flats, 7 Commercial units, and 54 Plots Water, Electric Mains & Service Connections for 81 Plots
- Design and installation of bespoke high-spec street lighting
- Installation of CCTV ducting network
- Provision of utilities to commercial and industrial units, including car charging points
The Results
The works at Wynyard West are progressing steadily and on schedule, with the multi-utility strategy effectively supporting the project’s requirements.
